Qualifying Criteria
- You should have a minimum of 2 years of full-time business practice in the last 5 years. The experience could be as:
- a) business owner
- b) senior manager (business management).
- In case you have experience both as a business owner and senior manager, you will have to choose only one for the EOI and the application. Choose the one that’s most recent or is more relevant to your proposed business
- If the proposed business is going to be located within the GTA, then the minimum net worth should be $800,000. If it is going to be located outside the GTA, the minimum net worth should be $400,000
- In case the proposed business is related to the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) or the Digital Communications field (irrespective of the location of the proposed business), the minimum net worth should be $400,000
- Personal investments towards spending that are important for the establishment and running of the business. This excludes cash, working capital, cash equivalents, or money paid to you or a family member.
- If the proposed business is situated within the GTA, a minimum personal investment of $600,000 needs to be made. If the proposed business is going to be located outside of the GTA, a minimum personal investment of $200,000 should be made. For proposed business in the ICT/Digital Communications field (irrespective of where the business is set), a minimum personal investment of $200,000 is to be made
- You should be dynamically involved in managing the proposed business
- You should control at least one-third of the proposed business equity
- At least one business-related visit is to be made to Ontario in the last 12 months from the date you register an Expression of Interest
