A recent update from Canada’s Minister of Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship – Sean Fraser, has stated that under the new development, 13 additional countries will be given visa-free travel access to Canada as per the electronic travel authorization (eTA).

Among the newly added countries, Caribbean Island nations Antigua and Barbuda, Saint Lucia, and Saint Kitts and Nevis have also secured a place. The reports further stated that citizens of these countries will be able to take benefit of the eTA provided if they have either:

• held a visa from Canada in the last ten years
• or hold a valid non-immigrant visa for the US

Such people are eligible to apply for the eTA and travel to Canada with ease rather than applying for a visa.

The eTA can be applied online and the approvals usually take a few minutes. Once the eTA is approved, the validity of it will last for 5 years.
